Text-Dependent, Cognitively Demanding Writing Tasks

This session supports teachers to prepare students for the writing demands of college and career. Participants will understand the unique role of argument in the standards; study research on writing in secondary classrooms; understand the demands of the writing standards and the importance of using text-based evidence; identify and analyze the characteristics of high-quality writing tasks; and evaluate writing tasks in their discipline.
