Developing On-Going Student Assessment Practices

To ensure a comprehensive and effective assessment system, SLC works with districts to do the following:

1) use screening, diagnostic, benchmark, and progress monitoring to inform the instructional content, activity, delivery, and supplemental materials to meet instructional needs and strengths.

2) ensure district-level decision-making guides for using data to drive instruction are developed, provided, and used.

3) use both formal and informal assessments to provide data that drives instruction, supports differentiation, and aligns to academic standards.

4) evaluate and review systemic implementation of curricula and instructional practices by providing evidence that teachers’ units and/or lesson plans show intentional planning to foster students’ literacy development.
